A Special Day. Thank You.

This is a day to count my blessings. Catching my breath and smelling the wildflowers. (Photo Credit – @LeeHillerLondon) “Pinkfire Wildflowers”.

I didn’t expect there to be any parades or big celebrations on March 19, a typical Tuesday.

LTCartoons & Gifts celebrates 27 years today. The only other things I’ve done for 27 straight years is breathe, sleep, and eat.

I’ve received a great deal of support from my amazing wife, whose helped me change my whole outlook on life. She is Lee Hiller-London (aka Lee Hiller) and she is the most hard-working, capable and knowledgeable person I know. Here is one of her latest designs.  So you can imagine I stay in awe working with her. Her art and gift-designing skills are often peerless (imho).

Open photo This is one of Lee’s latest creations – a cup and the surrounding items are included. We are viewing one of her posters. It is quite impressive!

Discovering that I am on the Autism Spectrum has made a huge impact on my life. It was as if a dam had burst and my creativity started to flow like never before. On the other hand, Lee doesn’t have ASD but is incredibly talented in art and gift design. I am truly amazed and mesmerized by her creations, which I believe will always remain timeless classics.

Blue Holster Cult

This isn’t what I expected at 69, but God works in mysterious ways.

Writing comedy in today’s world has become quite challenging. However, I want to clarify that I am not insensitive to the fact that the world is currently facing numerous crises, and that people are suffering. Despite the difficulties, I do everything within my limited ability to contribute to positive change. Humor is not a typical career choice; it’s not something a child usually dreams of becoming when they grow up. But here we are.  Without the help of the team illustrators for the past 10+ years Tom Kerr and Serhii Rudenko, we’d be slowly limping along.  They put a whole new look and feel to the cartoon.  Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart.

“I want you to know that I often think about you, the audience. I am not pretending to be modest when I say that I learn from you, I appreciate your sense of humor, care for you, and hope that our paths crossing has been as positive for you as it has been for me.”

I’ve been messing around with cartoons and writing since March 19, 1997. I remain in pretty good spirits and thus far Lee has put up with me.  She’s got patience.  You should see her shop of designer gifts. You can catch my newest funny giftshop at this link. I can’t even begin to thank everyone for all your support.  I’m proud that I can say we’re still “Number One” (offbeat cartoons and gifts) ranked by Google since 2005 and Bing since 2009.  Thank you for making that happen.

New Blog – History Of The Humble T-shirt. From Plain White To Colorful Graphics. What Your Tee Says About You By Rick London

T-shirts have an interesting history in America and around the world. From its humble beginnings as an undergarment in the late 19th century to becoming a fashion staple and a means of self-expression, the journey of the T-shirt is worth exploring.

The T-shirt’s origins can be traced back to the United States Navy in the late 1800s. Sailors would cut their one-piece union suits into two separate pieces to cope with the hot weather. This practical modification eventually caught on, and the T-shirt was born.

In the early 20th century, the T-shirt gained popularity among laborers and farmers due to its comfort and ease of movement. It was primarily worn as an undershirt until the 1950s when Marlon Brando famously wore one in the movie “A Streetcar Named Desire.” This catapulted the T-shirt into the realm of popular culture.

The T-shirt’s transition from an undergarment to a standalone garment was further propelled by the rise of screen printing in the 1960s. This technique allowed for the mass production of T-shirts with various designs and graphics. Bands, sports teams, and political movements began using T-shirts as a means of promoting their brand or message.

Graphic tees, as we know them today, gained significant popularity in the 1980s and 1990s. They became a way for individuals to express their interests, beliefs, and personality. From band logos and album covers to humorous slogans and artistic designs, graphic tees allowed people to showcase their identity to the world.

The appeal of graphic tees lies in their versatility and ability to make a statement. Whether you’re a fan of a particular band, a supporter of a cause, or simply want to showcase your sense of humor, there is a graphic tee out there for everyone.

In recent years, graphic tees have become even more diverse, with the rise of niche and independent designers. People can now find unique and personalized graphic tees that reflect their individuality and interests. This has led to a shift away from mass-produced, generic designs towards more personalized and meaningful fashion choices.

Today, graphic tees continue to be a popular choice for people of all ages. They have become a canvas for creativity, allowing designers to express their artistic visions and wearers to make a statement about who they are. Whether you’re a fashion enthusiast or simply appreciate the comfort and style of a good T-shirt, graphic tees offer a unique way to tell the world a little about yourself.

The T-shirt has come a long way since its humble beginnings as an undergarment. Today, graphic tees have become a staple in many people’s wardrobes, with individuals owning an average of 25-30 tees. This trend shows no signs of slowing down, as graphic tees have become a means of self-expression and a way to showcase one’s interests and personality.

Initially, the T-shirt gained popularity among laborers and farmers in the early 20th century due to its comfort and ease of movement. However, it wasn’t until Marlon Brando donned a T-shirt in the movie “A Streetcar Named Desire” in the 1950s that it made its way into popular culture. This marked the transition of the T-shirt from an undergarment to a standalone garment.

The appeal of graphic tees lies in their versatility and ability to make a statement. They offer wearers the opportunity to proudly display their fandom, support for a cause, or sense of humor. Graphic tees have become a medium through which individuals can communicate a little about themselves without saying a word.

So, next time you see someone rocking a graphic tee, remember that it’s more than just a piece of clothing—it’s a form of self-expression.

Rick London launched LTCartoons & Gifts in 1997 from a tin shed/warehouse in rural Ms. By 2005 it had become Google #1 ranked offbeat cartoons & funny gifts.  His comic tees are popular sellers.
